Today I celebrated Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May. It is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. The day, May 5 in 2020, is also known as Battle of Puebla Day. While it is a relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations. In honor of this special day I enjoyed some delicious tacos from Lupitas Mexican Restaurant.
I wanted to make an effort to support a latino business. It’s projected that 50% of Latino owned small businesses won’t survive this financial crisis and this breaks my heart. Buying local is great, but buying local and Latino is important. Latino restaurants represent 15.2% of the city’s total restaurants. 25.4% of the total restaurant workforce is made up of Latinos. Lets be aware of the facts and keep supporting Latino restaurants as much as we can.
I am so proud to be a Mexican-American and I’m fully aware this is a privilege I should never take for granted. For this reason I do what I do. My purpose in this life is to empower other latinos so they can empower other as well. This starts with empowering the body that does the work for us. We need to change our perspective in order to change our behavior. The mind is truly powerful and needs to be trained as well. I added a special mind exercise segment in my Booty Guide for that reason, its necessary!
Today food & workout recap:
This day being so special I allowed myself 2 tacos with cheese and guacamole; however before I enjoyed this delicious treat I worked out 2 1/2 hours. I woke up had a quick protein shake of 260 calories and trained my girls on Zoom for an hour. Immediately after the full body workout, I had oatmeal and 2 eggs then went to teach a Live 30 minute workout for the gym and added 30 more minutes of walking uphill at incline 15 at 2.7 speed. At the end I did 3 exercises for my back 5 sets. I earned my tacos after that! I didn’t eat anything after the tacos at 5pm. When I eat a big meal like that I like to fast longer over night.
Total food calories for today was 1,649, 30% Carbohydrates, 50% Fat, 20% Protein.
I weighed in today at 161.8lbs. This is progress already from the 165lbs we started at. I am being kind to myself and patient with my weightless. The more I love my body the more my body changes! Ok loves I’m ready for bed. Such a great day with such great tacos jaja. No one said we have to be perfect!
Change more than just your body
