My favorite scripture in the bible is “More than anything you guard, protect your mind, for life flows from it.” (Proverb 4:23) We must care and value our mind as much as our body. How you think determines your life course and your hormones which control your behavior and then creates your reality. The programming we get from ages 1-6 years old is the most impactful but even as an adult our television (Tell-A-Vision) is still programming us. Be objective when watching anything because you are creating the vision for your life through the beliefs you acquire. Your eyes are the most valuable entries to the brain and sets the program to your brain. Tell me you have never watched a burger commercial then suddenly you want a burger? Watching people eat junk food in commercials hypnotizes us to want the same. Everything you see has an impact on your soul, mind & decisions, whether you believe it or not; movies, music videos, commercials, everything!
Being kind to our mind consists of keeping our thoughts fixed on what is true, lovely, pure, gracious, and just. This means watching content that reflects those thoughts. If you are watching violence, death, tragedy, and deception all day, what do you think your thoughts will be like? How can we visualize positive thoughts if all we see is negative? It’s a fact, that what we see we perceive, and we create the world that we perceive, not because there is no reality outside our heads, but because we select and edit the reality we see to conform to our beliefs about what sort of world we live in.
To change our body we need to change more than just our body, we must change our mind. Our thoughts tend to stay within our belief system. For example, you think you are afraid of something, so you are afraid, you think you are overweight and it is true. Another quote I have in front of my TV as a reminder is, Norman Vincent Peale’s wise words, “Change your thoughts and you change your world.” Being mindful is an exercise. So many of us are operating on auto pilot and don’t even know it. Just like fitness, it takes effort to change the mind, we need to be exercising positive affirmations daily to do so. The mental exercises in my wellness guide is a great way to start! Change your thinking, take action and you can change your world just by adjusting your thoughts a little.
I truly believe I manifested my dream body & career with my mind. I used a vision board to achieve these goals and was mindful of what I was watching on TV as well as social media. I train my mind as hard as I train my body. The outcome so far has been magical! Now I’m working on manifesting a life partner perfect for me. It works if you work it daily. Being kind to your mind is a process that takes time but results is mental fitness and the life you want.
