Healthy Eating: Tips for a Balanced Diet

The secret to feeling fuller on fewer calories is in the amount of fruits and vegetables you eat at every meal. Vary your veggies as well so you don’t get bored. Try eating a combination of colors for a better mix of vitamins. Protein also helps your brain recognize that you are full.  The balanced plate should be ¼ protein; ¼ carbohydrates and ½ of your plate should be vegetables.  In addition, making at least half of your carbs whole grain adds fiber to the equation, which also helps fill you up.

Alcohol? Do your best to avoid or limit alcohol consumption. It’s high in sugar and almost always stores in our stomach fat. If you need to drink everyday stick to one glass of red wine if you’re a female and two if you’re male.

Dairy? Choose low-fat or fat free dairy products. Dairy helps management your weight and also helps fill you up. It’s filled with protein and calcium as well so don’t take it out of your diet completely because your bones need it.

Sauces? For better tasting healthy meals add spices and hot sauces instead of creamy sauces and salt. In addition, when cooking your poultry you should trim the fat and buy lean cuts. And grill, bake, and broil instead of frying.

Sugar? Use a no-calorie sweetener, instead of sugar but make sure you don’t over do it on the no-calorie sweeteners because it still spike your insulin, which stores fat.  And drink water instead of soda. Soda, even diet soda contributes to more cellulite.

Breakfast? The most important meal of the day is breakfast. Eat breakfast, so you don’t overeat later. It also jump starts your metabolism and gives you energy to start your day.  
Last thing to remember when you choose your food is read the labels to check for serving sizes and nutritional information. Being conscious of portions is the first step to a balanced diet.

      You only need to do cardio 2-3 times a week for 30 -45 minutes but you should also do 3 times a week of weight training to lose weight an get toned 🙂 hope that helps! Xoxo
