I often procrastinate because I’m afraid of failing at the tasks I want to complete. This fear of failure can promote procrastination in various ways, such as by causing me to avoid finishing a task, or by causing me to avoid getting started on a task in the first place.
I have overcome procrastination by focusing on doing something for now vs forever and taking baby steps. I started my fitness business thinking I would just do it for the mean time while I found my chosen career path. This was something I really wanted to do when I graduated from University. Little did I know by doing what I love for now vs thinking I would do it forever got me to start my business and turned it into a forever passion. By focusing on doing something just for now takes away the weight of forever that can be scary. Starting a healthy lifestyle with a better diet and more exercise can be overwhelming if you have never really done it. Identifing the negative feelings you may have in regards to fitness or whatever the task, is the first step. The next step is just doing it. Ignore the feelings and thoughts of failure and just take the first step. Whether it be forever or for a moment, it will bring only good life experiences. If you are ready to start living a healthier life now but don’t know how, you download my 30 day Fitness Guide and just do it for now. See where that takes you!
We procrastinate not because we are lazy but because we attach negative feelings. Whether it be physical fitness or starting a new career, the feelings of fear behind it can be powerful and paralyzing. We find excuses not to start and find ways to distract ourselves. Sometimes in order to start something great we must take the first step and be open to the endless possibilities.
Fast forward to now, thankfully all the baby steps have led me to becoming a global fitness leader in the world. Being featured multiple times on NBC News, Telemundo, Univision, LATV, KTLA, Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, and several other media outlets showed me that doing something for now can easily turn into forever. I went from being an overweight sad girl of 200lbs to a fitness influencers recognized around the world.
This 50 day transformation blog is something I am doing for now but is the start of writing my first book I can read forever, a task I have been procrastinating on due to fear. I’m so grateful I finally began this journey. Whether it be just for now on this blog or have it turn into a book, learning to overcome procrastination is what matters. There cannot be failure or success if we never get started.
