Did you know long steady cardio makes you gain weight? Long steady cardio cranks up your cortisol level(stress hormone) and cortisol eats away at muscle tissue converting it into glucose(sugar) to fuel you through cardio which slows down your metabolism.
Yes you should do cardio but do it only 45-50 minutes max. if you are trying to lose a lot of weight and for those trying to just get lean and toned you really only need 20-25 minutes after an intense resistance training workout.
Don’t do more cardio than you need. In addition, cardio only burns calories while you are doing it but resistance training burns calories for 3-5 days after!!! Combining a little of both is your solution.
The Truth: 2-3 days of resistance training and cardio (30 cardio & 30 Resistance Training) for one hour is enough to give you amazing results when combined with a healthy meal plan. Remember 80% Diet, 20% Fitness.
SAVE time and SAVE your muscle! Hope this helps :)
